How to Enroll

Enrollment Policies

Intent to Enroll forms for the 2011-2012 academic period are now available.  Completed Intent to Enroll Forms must be received by AMCS by May 1st for the 2011-2012 academic year.     If more students apply than AMCS can serve, a lottery will be held in mid-May. Students who are not chosen in the lottery will be placed on a waiting list and notified of acceptance when slots become available. Preference will be granted to siblings of those whose names are chosen in the lottery and children of AMCS employees.  Each year, first preference to attend AMCS will be given to students who were enrolled in AMCS the previous year.

Kindergarten children must be five (5) years old by August 1, 2011. New students must live within the 63104, 63116, or 63118 zip codes. If enrollment is not at capacity by June 1, 2011, AMCS will extend its geographical boundaries.

The Enrollment Process

To provide access to the most students, enrollment forms will be included with the literature disseminated throughout the AMCS’ target zip codes and will be available at area daycare centers, restaurants, community centers, on-line, and at the school.  If you are wishing to receive an enrollment packet by mail, please contact Megan Green at megan.ellyia@mindsinaction.org

  1. Enrollment Packet (Intent to Enroll Form): A parent or guardian must complete the school enrollment application (short form) which will be followed by a full enrollment packet once the students name is chosen in the lottery or placed on the waiting list.  The Enrollment Packet collects basic information including previous education, contact information, grade student wishes to enroll, and names and ages of any siblings.
  2. Proof of Residency: The full enrollment packet must include a copy of the student’s birth certificate, two types of proof of residency (utility bills, lease agreements, state identification, etc.), immunization records/medical history and needs, a current report card (if applicable), emergency contact information, and a home language questioner. Full enrollment packets are due June 15th to be officially enrolled.
  3. Full Application: Upon receipt of the full application, the student and a parent or guardian will meet with a member of the school leadership team. This will be an opportunity for families to learn about the expectations and philosophy of AMCS and to communicate their wants and needs to the school.
  4. Sibling Preference: Kindergarten siblings of current AMCS students will receive priority placement. If an AMCS student moves within the boundaries of the City of St. Louis and outside of the boundaries for AMCS, the student will be able to remain an AMCS student until high school graduation.

Nondiscrimination Statement

AMCS will not discriminate, or in any way prefer any student over another student based on race, religion, gender, ethnicity, national origin, disability, income level, proficiency in English, or athletic ability.
